Great Mill resident Marcus Tyrone Harris was driving shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning in Lexington Park when he went off road and smashed his truck into a wooded area near the intersection of Willows Road and South Shangri La Drive.

According to the sheriff's office, patrol units were called to the area, where they found Harris' Dodge Ram 1500 up against the tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

It remains unclear what caused him to lose control and strike the tree, though investigators noted that neither alcohol, drugs, nor speed contributed to the crash, which is still being probed by the sheriff's office.
